1. Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour (Paramount+)
Oh, it’s just a concert film, you say? What if we told you it’s a concert film… directed by James Cameron? All right, so it’s still pretty much a straightforward concert movie shot on fancier cameras – the theatrical version had a 3D component – but if you’re a Billie Eilish fan, you’re not missing it anyway. And if you’re not a fan, there’s still enough of Cameron’s visual flair to make it worthwhile. Bonus: there’s not a Na’vi in sight. Read Time Out’s review here.

2. You, Me and Tuscany (Peacock)
On an impulse, a young woman chases an aborted hookup to his idyllic home in Tuscany and, through a series of misunderstandings – and a few straight-up lies – ends up masquerading as his fiance. Yeah, it’s total Hallmark fluff, but stars Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page have an easygoing chemistry harking back to the heyday of romcoms. Plus, it was actually shot in Italy, and thus looks molto bello. Read Time Out’s review here.

3. The Last House (Netflix)
A suburban family wakes up one morning to find themselves trapped inside their house by a mysterious, unseen force. (Is its name Dr. Fauci?) Sounds like a case of too-much-concept, but the mother and father are played by The Secret Agent’s Wagner Moura and Greta Lee, which gives some hope it’ll turn out better than it looks… just don’t look at the rest of director Louis Leterrier’s filmography.

4. The Strangers: Chapter 2 (HBO Max)
The original The Strangers, from 2008, is genuinely unnerving home-invasion horror. Then a bunch of hacks had to go messing with its brutal simplicity. Now helmed by actionslop auteur Renny Harlin, the rebooted franchise follows the same basic formula – masked intruders break into a home and assault a couple for kicks – except with no true scares, tension or subtlety.

5. Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy (Netflix)
In case you missed it, fast food is bad for you. In this doc, British comedian Mo Gilligan reheats Super Size Me’s 22-year-old leftovers, embarking on a journey to consume nothing but fried chicken for 28 days. What will he learn? And how will he feel? ‘Bad’ about covers it, we think.
