🆕 What’s new on Netflix in September 2025

1. Swiped (Hulu)

Lily James stars as Whitney Wolfe, the founder of the female-focused dating app Bumble, in this biopic charting her rise as a co-founder of Tinder, fall as she leaves and sues the company for sexual harassment, and re-rise as she become as self-made billionaire. It’s a story that doesn’t seem to have the saucy intrigue of, say, Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, but James is always worth watching.

Watch Swiped on Hulu starting Sep 19

2. Night of the Reaper (Shudder)

An unabashed throwback slasher, this Shudder original is giving House of the Devil vibes in its invocation of the VHS era, with a killer in a skeleton mask targeting local babysitters and taunting local police to catch him before he claims another victim. ’Tis the season – nevermind that it’s still only September.

3. Abigail (Peacock)

She is small, but she is bitey. In this riotous horror-comedy with a balletic twist, a gang of criminals kidnap a young girl in a tutu and hold her for ransom, but soon learn that she is not as cute and helpless as she appears. Blood flows liberally as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett chomp down on vampire tropes with undeniable gusto. Read our review.

Watch Abigail on Peacock starting Sep 19

4. Dolphins Up Close with Bertie Gregory (Disney+)

Dolphins! Up close! Nature photographer Bertie Gregory heads to the Azores to film a Flipper feeding frenzy – if storm patterns allow. Guessing they do, otherwise that is some blatant false advertising. Jokes aside, it’s dolphins – up close. What more do you need?

Watch Dolphins Up Close on Disney+ starting Sep 19

5. Love Hurts (Prime)

Ke Huy Quan’s follow-up to his improbable Oscar-winning comeback in Everything Everywhere All At Once isn’t the best showcase of his talents, but he and co-star Ariana DeBose make for a charming twosome in this romantic action-comedy. He’s a former assassin turned real estate agent whose old life – and an old flame – comes back to haunt him. Read our review.
