If the events of this year have left you almost constantly daydreaming about a new way of life, this might be the push you need. Well, it might be if you have a cool £1.5 million ($2 million, A$2.7 million) in the bank.

People in pokey studio flats or massive house shares aren’t the only ones who’ve been inspired to make a change this year. So have the family who own this colossal pink castle in Scotland: they’ve just put the property on the market for wealthy prospective buyers.

Quite near the Scottish coast, north of the Cairngorms National Park and just a two-hour drive east of InvernessCastle of Park is a listed country pile, painted a subtle shade of pink.

The most recently added sections date back to the nineteenth century, but parts of the castle remain from the sixteenth century.

So what does your £1.5 million get you, aside from some serious history? The castle has eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms and six grand reception rooms, plus a self-contained two-bedroom flat. You’ll also have 36 acres of land, including a pavilion, croquet lawn, rose garden and swimming pool.

Don’t quite have the cash? The current owners rent out some of the rooms B&B-style, while you can also host parties in the beautiful surrounds. If the new owners keep that up, you may still get to drift off inside these historic walls after all.
