Great news for fans of Atlanta and Donald Glover. The show has been extended for two more eight-episode seasons, which will film back-to-back early next year.

If you haven’t discovered Atlanta, now’s the time to dive in. It boasts one of the strongest ensembles on TV – a cast headlined by Donald Glover and also featuring Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield – and a super-sharp blend of laughs and lacerating comment on race, relationships, parenthood and poverty. And did we mention Donald Glover?

‘What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald [and his co-producers] have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television,’ said FX entertainment chief Eric Schrier in a statement. ‘This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation.’

The show, which has racked up two Golden Globes and five Emmys to date, follows Glover’s Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks. He’s a single dad in Atlanta, struggling to make ends meet and trying to live vicariously through his cousin (Henry), a rapper on the verge of big things.

You can stream Atlanta on various US platforms, including Hulu and FX. It’s available on Amazon Prime in the UK.

Only diverse films will be considered for a Best Picture Oscar from 2025.

Sacha Baron Cohen has secretly filmed a Borat sequel.
