As Paris 2024 races to the finish line, with the closing ceremony approaching faster than Julien Alfred, loads of us are cramming some sport into every tiny gap in our day – watching the athletics qualifiers over breakfast, the boxing rounds over lunch, and maybe zoning out of that zoom meeting to keep one eye on the cycling – while we still can.
And though it will be sad when the curtain falls on Paris 2024 this weekend, the great thing about these games is that there’s always another one right around the bend, in exactly four years’ time. So, here is everything you need to know about when and where the next Olympics will be taking place, and if you can snag your tickets now.

When are the next Olympics?
The Olympics take place every four years (with the exception of Tokyo 2020, which took place in 2021 for obvious reasons), and the next ones will be taking place from July 14 to 30, 2028.
Location
The 2028 Olympics will take place in LA, but unusually, the city won’t be building any new venues for the Games. Intrigued? We’ve already got a comprehensive guide covering everything you need to know about those, so check it out!
How to get tickets
If Paris’s ticketing system is anything to go by (which is all we have to go by right now), it’s likely a ticket lottery will open for registration, potentially around the end of 2026 or early 2027, which will be followed by rolling releases closer to the Games.
We know just as little about pricing at the moment, but it would be safe to assume that qualifiers and esoteric sports will have affordable tickets, while the blockbuster events will be at the pricier end of things.
And after that?
Brisbane will be hosting the Olympic Games in 2032, and as for the 2036 Olympics, various countries are still throwing their hat in the ring, but India, Indonesia, Chile and Türkiye are all confirmed bids.
