When you think of a treehouse, luxury isn’t necessarily the first thing that comes to mind. As treasured as they might be, the treehouses of most people’s youths were rickety and hodgepodge – little more than having a shed up a tree.
But not all treehouses are equal. Take this one, for instance, which is on the dreamy Indonesian resort island of Bali. One of six treehouses in a place called Grün Canggu, it offers a new take on a classic tree hideaway that is airy, stylish and mind-bogglingly luxurious. And better yet, it’s available to rent on Airbnb.
Accessed via spiral staircase, this treehouse is essentially a 36-square-metre studio apartment with a bathroom, lounge, dining area, kitchen and balcony. The queen-sized bed is on a mezzanine level that is accessible by ladder, while huge windows allow for great views out over the nearby rice fields.
Designed by local company Stilt Studios, the Grün Canggu treehouses have a shared swimming pool and gardens. Here are a few pictures of the place.
Pretty incredible, right? All this is in a small village called Buduk, which is just a 10-minute drive from the popular beach resort town of Canggu on Bali’s south coast. As you can tell from the pics, it’s one of the calmer, more chilled-out bits of Bali.
Prices for the treehouse start at about £100 ($122) per night (in low season), which, given the uniqueness of the rental, is actually pretty reasonably priced. Find out more and book here – and get dreaming of a spectacular treetop getaway!
