Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

La Maison Rouge is no stranger to transgressive works. So now that what the French call 'art brut' (and the English, somewhat lamely, refer to as 'outsider art') is finally gaining legitimacy in 'respectable' art circles, it comes as no surprise that the gallery is putting on an exhibition of one of the richest private collections in the genre: that of Bruno Decharme. 'Art brut / Collection ABCD', then, brings together a hundred-odd works, spanning a hundred-odd years from the late 19th century to the present day, produced by self-taught artists working on the fringes of society. Some of the photos, pantings and sculptures on display reveal the workings of unstable minds; others are merely too odd or fantastic for mainstream circles. All, without a doubt, will fascinate anyone with a passing interest in subversive art.
