The Canotiers festival is all about drinking and eating while taking in the work of young artists; a friendly, multidisciplinary enterprise set up in the heights of Ménilmontant. Cinema, music and more than 16 artists come together on the Place Maurice Chevalier – the sixth edition plays homage to singer and actress Marguérite Fréhel and the talents of women in general, including street art, painting and sculpture. Eleven venues have lent their walls, from a theatre café to a restaurant and from a garage to a neighbourhood bar. You’ll find knittted uteruses by Géraldine, erotic polaroid portraits by Anthony Bornachot, dreamy pinhole scenes by Cynthia Charpentreau – an attractive lineup that also includes concerts, theatre sketches, short films and of course projections of Fréhel movies.
