This often fun and witty adaptation of the classic film-turned-musical for a French audience is slightly lost in translation. Kania Allard has the role of Dolores Van Cartier, a lounge club singer who is sent into hiding in a nunnery after she witnesses a murder. Beautiful and a fine singer, she neverhtless fails to bring any of Whoopi Goldberg’s raunchy warmth to the part, leaving us with a show that is impressively designed and choreographed, certainly feel-good, but overall a little flat.
