Beyond my Piano, a self-proclaimed 'festival for emanciated pianists', is putting on one of the most intriguing nights of January at the Théâtre des Bouffes. The festival's remit is to bring together pianists from different backgrounds and musical spheres – we're talking everything from electro to classical – for a good ol' genre mashup. This particular night will see radical New York-based trio Aufgang take to the stage alongside German trio Brandt Brauer Frick, who specialise in producing a kind of techno with live instruments. A more audacious night of fusion experimentation you're unlikely to find this year.
