Daniel Humair, the patriarch of French jazz, currently leads one of the most exciting ensembles in the country. With one substitution – the explosive tenor sxophonist Guillaume Perret instead of accordionist Vincent Peirani – the band will be present and correct at this one-off date at the Maison des Cultures du Monde. Their music has one foot in free jazz, yet retains enough form and melody to keep the attention of the interested layman. Past performances suggest we're in for a thrilling night.
Pianist Paul Lay will open the programme.
