You don’t have to run out to one of the farms or pumpkin patches near Philadelphia to soak up some down-home fun this fall. La Peg is bringing several perks of rural adventuring to its outdoor bar, Haas Biergarten, starting October 24.

For a limited time, the FringeArts-based watering hole is rolling in a bunch of massive hay bales to create the “Hay Bar.” There, folks can stop by for seasonal food and drink specials and to take in some free pumpkin-carving with gourds provided by the bar.

Seasonal drinks on the menu include the Pumpkin Spice Mule, made with vodka, homemade pumpkin-ginger syrup, lime juice and club soda; the Spiked Hot Chocolate, a combination of Bailey’s and your choice of peppermint schnapps or Fireball whiskey; and a lineup of pumpkin beers such as the Neshaminy Creek Punkless Dunkel and the Lake Front Pumpkin Lager.

The Fall Burger, a 6-ounce patty on a potato roll with mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and clothbound cheddar; a sweet potato poutine, made with sweet potato fries, cheese curds and Montreal brown gravy; and chicken wings with chipotle buffalo sauce, scallions and pickled carrots will all be included on the fall-flavor-heavy snack menu.

And what about that free pumpkin-carving, you ask? There will be free pun’kins on site (limited one per guest) that you can carve and decorate over a tasty beverage. Your masterpiece will be on display at the Hay Bar for the rest of the season, so everyone can stop by and marvel at your craftiness.

Hay Bar will be around from October 24 till Halloween night.
