If you’re fortunate enough to be off work on Columbus Day, swing by the Headhouse Shambles starting at 2pm for a daylong block party hosted by Pizzeria Stella. If you’re working, that’s fine, too. The party goes till 9pm.

The bash—a celebration of Stella’s eighth anniversary—takes up the Shambles with food, drinks and family-friendly activities in the form of face painting, pony rides and carnival games. There will even be a special appearance by the Phillie Phanatic for any goofy selfies you might want to take.

On the food and beverage front, Executive Chef Shane Solomon’s bringing out an array of favorites from the Stella menu—everything from wood-oven pizzas and pastas to a spread of antipasti. A pop-up beer and sangria garden will feature suds and other drinks from Peroni Brewery. The inside bar and dining room will also be open, in case the block party grub doesn’t hit the spot. All food can be brought out to be enjoyed in the open atmosphere.

The street will be closed on both sides of 2nd Street, starting at the corner of Lombard and Pine, from 2pm to 9pm. It’s free to attend, but all food and drink is pay-as-you-go.
