Convergent Arts Slam May 14th says
Convergent Arts throws down poetry TOURNAMENT STYLE, with a head-to-head slam at Fair Trade Community Kitchen at Downtown Phoenix Civic Space.

The Convergent Arts Slam is every 2nd and 4th Thursday and is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. There are limited spaces to compete. Pre-register at

Doors and sign up begins at 7pm. Pre-registered poets must check in by 7:15pm to not forfeit spot. Lottery draw for remaining slots takes place at 7:30pm.

A head-to-head format means no randomly selected judges and no 0.0 to 10.0 scoring. The entire audience decides who moves to the next round.

The basic rules still hold up, though:

- 3 rounds of poetry with poets being cut for the 2nd and 3rd rounds;

- Each poem must be of the poet's own construction;

- Each poet gets three minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) to read one poem. If the poet goes over time, the mic will be snatched from the poet's grip;

- The poet may not use props, costumes or musical instruments.

- No nudity (but do we really even need to say this?)
