Organic Poetry says
Next Organic is March 11 and the same week as solar eclipse, March 8th. Featuring artists will be Deborah Berman-Montaño and Garrett Smith.

As a poet, Deborah has participated in the Phoenix poetry and arts community since late 1990s. As poetry hosts in 2012, Deborah and her husband introduced us to “Balboa Poet House.” As the modern-day salon, BPH is the house for – poetry features; independent press; original music; the pop-up art gallery— and the informal meet-and-greet enclave of artists, painters and writers. In 2014, Deborah co-produced the first edition of “RISE,” another beloved arts project with her husband. This important event spotlight the disparate backgrounds and under-represented cultures of Arizona. A core group of artists and mentors assisted with second installation of “RISE” in December 2015. Deborah is self-published with 4 chapbooks, one CD and poetry submissions, currently with local print and online magazine, “Elke.”

The works of Garrett Smith are in that space where poetry, music and comedy all exist except for the comedy part. The poetry is written to the rhythm of thinking, because sometimes words have a hard time keeping up with our thoughts. When it comes to puns and drumming, Garrett can’t be beat. His performances are free of corporate censorship, and most likely monitored by the NSA. Garrett believes in clarity, brevity and the rule of threes. There is no obligation to be aware, only an obligation to experience. He writes for First Friday Night Live and performs on stages throughout downtown.
