"Indispensable dispensables - lessons to still be learned" by Lee Berger Reception: First Friday, March 6th, from 7-9 Exhibition March 1st-31st, 2015 Life has become a battle for health, sanity, purpose, and value amidst systems that hydrogenate, frack, exploit, and ceaselessly digitize. The world is littered with the results of these collective decisions and processes, and our souls and psyches mirror this environment, subsume and become it. My paintings speak to this relationship in both subject and material, employing the imagery and debris of life, my life, along with the paint. These works posit a deep bond with our surroundings, and question whether we can release our attempt to control nature enough to let it nourish us?
