More on Raquel Bell: Performing solo across the southwest, having just completed her first solo record, Waxing & Wishing. For the past twelve years she has performed in New York and toured North America with bands and composed soundtracks for art installations.
She is co-founder of the band MESIKO (www.mesiko.com) and vocalist and midi percussionist for the art-noise pilgrims, Normal Love (www.normallove.com). Jessica Pavone and Raquel Bell both received New Music America grants for their playing in Normal Love and together formed the offshoot, Dark Tips (http://feeldarktips.tumblr.com/).
In addition to playing in bands, Bell has performed in contemporary opera, including two Harry Partch operas with all of his original instruments. As the artist in residence at The Museum of Human Achievement in Austin, TX, Bell created hand cut 7" singles from her upcoming solo record each with original artwork that will be available at these shows.
Bell's solo music is a mixture of country, folk, punk and sci-fi played on rock organ and guitar. She is a robo-crooner and imaginationist.
