PDX Jazz and Portland Jazz Festival says
David Goldblatt Sextet, “Jazz Goes to the Movies”

Three decades as a consummate professional have kept David Goldblatt consistently in demand as a contributing artist to top names in jazz such as Tribal Tech, Mark Isham, Gino Vannelli, Vinnie Colaiuta, Ernie Watts, Stanley Clarke, Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Joe Sample, Tom Scott, Madeleine Peyroux, Flora Purim and Airto Moriera. His skills as a composer and arranger have been featured on numerous films and TV shows including the CBS series, “EZ Streets,” Showtime’s “The Defenders,” and the “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” He has toured as musical director with Diana Ross and was the composer and bandleader on “The Dennis Miller Show”.

“Jazz Goes To The Movies” will be a movie theme based performance that will re-adapt thematic material from motion pictures for a jazz sextet setting. Each theme will get a fresh treatment and will be familiar in a new way as well as opening the interpretation to the mastery of each individual jazz soloist that will be featured in this chamber jazz group setting.

Jazz in the Garden is presented by Lan Su Chinese Garden & PDX Jazz and PDX Jazz Festival and is sponsored in part by the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation, Full Sail Brewing Company,
Classic Pianos, The Society Hotel and KMHD Jazz Radio.
