Friday Forum: Republican Governor Candidate Debate says
With crumbling infrastructure, abysmal high school graduation rates, and a continuing housing crisis driving up poverty and homelessness across Oregon, could 2016 be the year that voters turn to a Republican governor? Join the City Club of Portland as we host Allen Alley and Bud Pierce in a debate for the Republican Gubernatorial Primary.

Speakers include:
Bud Pierce is a Salem oncologist who enlisted in the US Marine Corps while completing his MD/PhD, serving in the US Naval Reserve as a physician before establishing his practice in Salem where he continues to see patients for over 20 years. While never having served in public office, Pierce is a past president of the Oregon Medical Association. The is Pierce’s first run for public office.

Allen Alley is an engineer and tech executive who has had a long career in industry including co-founding Pixelworks, an Oregon-based semiconductor company. Alley served as Oregon GOP Chairman in 2012 and as deputy chief of staff under Democratic Governor Ted Kulongoski. He had two unsuccessful bids for public office, narrowly losing the Oregon State Treasurer general election in 2008 and the Republican Gubernatorial primary in 2010.

Doors open at 11:30am; program begins at 12:15pm. This event is anticipated to sell out. As always, City Club members can livestream Friday Forum events at The rebroadcast times for OPB and Portland Community Media can be found here:
