The event creator says
For seven years now Golden Retriever, the Portland duo of modular synth maestro Matt Carlson and Jonathan Sielaff on bass clarinet, have been exploring every conceivable corner of their unusual combination of instruments, resulting in four critically acclaimed records and several tapes for labels like Thrill Jockey, Root Strata, NNA, and Debacle Records. Last year’s “Seer” LP was named one of the 20 Best Avant Albums of 2014 by Rolling Stone.

This year though, they are expanding their sonic palette to bring in classical acoustic timbres, including the Mousai Remix String Quartet with piano, flute, oboe, vibraphone, and organ. With the help of a grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council, they’ve put together an ensemble of top-notch musicians from Portland’s classical, improvisation, and electronic music scenes to debut the new piece alongside them this October at The Old Church in Portland.
