It's been almost 4 years since I last taught in Portland! I can't wait to come back!

Finding space was difficult, so we were forced to try a Friday AFTERNOON workshop, instead of Friday night. I realize that this might present a problem for those of you who work that day. So, with this tour stop, I will make sure that each day stands on its own, and will not depend on the day before. If you can only come to Saturday and Sunday, please do! You won't be lost!

The “Nurture” tour
In May of 2015, I celebrated 10 years of teaching hoop dance in NC and around the country. It has been an amazing journey for me personally, artistically, and spiritually. While hooping is one of my greatest loves in this world, my absolute greatest LOVE is teaching. Teaching has become an art for me in its own right. Like any other art, the more I get in touch with who I am, the better my teaching becomes.

Every year, I sit down in quiet and try to just “be” with what feels good to put out into the world. I usually start with my own life— feeling for what issues with which I’m struggling, what pains and joys I’ve experienced over the last years, and so on. Then, I reflect on my life in social media and the stories I have read (personal accounts and current events) and I look for commonalities.

After having reflected on these things, I believe the greatest commonality in all these varied stories is struggle. Even for those of us who feel we are walking the right path, we still struggle sometimes to handle it all. When people are struggling, they need support — support to keep going, to keep asking, to keep striving. For the most part, I see a lot of people trying to do what’s right for themselves and the world. Yet, many of us are tired and a little empathically exhausted. For many, our hearts are full, but our batteries are low. This tour is about recharging our energy supplies through love, dance, and learning.

This tour is a more ‘gentle’ version of my teaching and will be a type of reset of all things HoopPath. By that I mean, I will be spending time each day going over what I consider to be the most important concepts of HP over the last 10 years and many tours. If you have ever wanted a tour that starts from the beginning.. this is it. My goal is for every student that leaves to feel renewed, energized, and resolved that they are on the right track. It’s a big goal, but that’s how just how I feel. We all need each other to get where we’re going.
