If you recently started a beehive and you’re wondering what comes next, this might be the class for you.-

Beekeeping is a dynamic learning process best taught by the bees themselves, and having a knowledgeable mentor go through a hive with you is a priceless way to expedite this learning. Join us for our inaugural Intermediate Beekeeping course with a seasonal focus, where students will have hands on experiences with:

-Treatment-free and foundationless hive management practices for Top Bar hives, Warre hives, and Langstroth hives
-General comb safety and health
-Brood and honeycomb patterning and organization
-Responsible honey harvest practices for early Fall
-How to harvest honey in a foundationless hive system
-To feed, or not to feed
-Hive tool, bee brush, and smoker technique
-General hive observations, reading, and troubleshooting in response to live, functioning hives
-Anticipation and safety practices

When: Sunday, August 14, from 10 am- 3 pm with a 30 minute lunch break

Where: 15014 SE Woodlawn Way, Portland, OR, 97267

Bee Thinking will provide: Hive tools and full-body bee suits

You will need to bring: A personal water bottle, sack lunch and/or snacks, close-toed shoes, sunscreen, and all your beekeeping questions!
