Join us Friday, April 1st from 6 - 8pm to celebrate the completion of our new home and the beginning of a creative adventure! This free evening will include, drinks, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle, and open rehearsals by the Polaris Dance Company and the Junior Company.

Our new space, specifically renovated to suit the needs of Polaris and the surrounding community, offers room for expanded classes, innovative and inclusive programming, professional and junior company rehearsals, rentals, and exciting community events like this one!

Concurrent with our open house event, we're thrilled to be hosting a sneak peek of "Fuse - Portland Dance Portrait", featuring the photography of Jingzi Zhao.

"Fuse" is a collaborative dance/photography project in which the artist photographs dancers on location, at historic landmarks, neighborhoods, and businesses around the city, in order to create visual narratives that showcase the beauty, culture and lifestyles of Portland. These photographs take dancers off the stage of theater and put them on the stage of life, where each of us live and play. The dancers in the photographs are like the actors in movies. They are the storytellers. Through dancers' body expression, the photographs invite the audience to experience "a moment/place/scene in Portland" with a sense of drama and humor. "Fuse" celebrates life in Portland.

"Fuse" will be on display from April 1 - May 1 at Polaris Dance Theatre. The Fuse Project is in part supported by the Regional Arts & Cultural Council. These images are a sneak preview of the larger body of work that will be exhibited at the Multnomah Arts Center from October 7, 2016 to October 25, 2016.
