NOONTIME SHOWCASE: CHINOOK WINDS

The Chinook Winds performs jewel-like transcriptions of classical works, both perennial favorites (selections from Bizet's “Carmen”), and more obscure (Schumann's “Scenes from Childhood”). These Northwest-trained artists will delight you with their enthusiastic and finely crafted interpretations of their eclectic repertory. The trio performs on flute, clarinet and bassoon.

The mellow sound of woodwinds will fill the Antionette Hatfield Hall when the woodwind trio The Chinook Winds performs. The musicians performs jewel-like transcriptions of classical works, both perennial favorites such as selections from Bizet's “Carmen” and more obscure pieces such as Schumann's “Scenes from Childhood.”

Lynda Hess, Chris Cox, and Frank Kenny have performed together as The Chinook Winds since 1987. The members are principal players in the Hillsboro Symphony, Soundstage Rhythm Orchestra, and the University of Portland Community Orchestra.

Noontime Showcase is presented by the volunteers of Portland’5 Centers for the Arts, whose goal is to make the performing arts accessible to everyone in Portland. Each season over 1,000 people attended the FREE monthly performances. “The Noontime Showcase allows Portland’5 to say thank you to Portland for supporting the arts by providing free entertainment to the community,” said Margie Humphreys, Volunteer Coordinator for Portland’5. “It also allows us to invite our neighbors into our buildings to see all of the great things we have going on at Portland’5.”
