Coinciding with the closing reception Jennifer Woodward’s exhibition of paintings & drawings on hand-made paper

ProjectGrow and Port City Gallery are proud to announce our second annual (Not So) Silent Auction, a Spring / Summer companion to our yearly Harvest Festival in Autumn. Join us on Saturday, May 16th 2015 for performances by Portland musicians Seth Brewster and Isaac Pierce of Ten-Speed Music alongside a silent auction of works by ProjectGrow artists and the closing reception of an exhibition by Jennifer Woodward. (Not So) Silent Auction is a special invitation to the public to step into our studio space, get familiar with the work created in our program and have a chance to take home specially curated pieces from our archives. In addition, a studio sale will be taking place with many items offered including paintings, drawings, monotypes, hand-made woven items, ceramics, sculpture, zines and more! As always, 70% of sales are given directly to the artist. The event runs from 6PM to 9PM, with light snacks and refreshments provided.

About the Exhibiting Artist:

Jennifer J. Woodward was born in Kansas in 1977 and raised in Texas. After attending the High School for Performing & Visual Arts in Houston, she received her BFA from Sarah Lawrence College, and earned her MFA from the joint degree program at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston & Tufts University in 2006. With a background focused on mixed media installation, drawing and papermaking, Jenn’s work explores a challenge of cultural narratives, inviting the viewer to examine their reflexive assumptions about the world around them. As the co-founder and lead instructor of the community papermaking studio, Pulp & Deckle, Jenn is deeply committed to the craft and history of papermaking and enjoys sharing the medium with others. In addition to teaching at the studio Jenn has taught at Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, Portland Community College, and this May she will be a guest instructor at WildCraft Studio School.
