Alan Ostrow Memorial Lecture Series

Photographer Robbert Flick is widely regarded as a pioneer in California landscape and documentary photography. His photographs examine our relationship to landscape through a unique process of mapping with a camera. His images look at the intersection of time and space, and build on a unique visual language the artist has developed over the last 50 years.

In this lecture in the Portland Art Museum's Alan Ostrow Memorial Lecture Series, Flick will share reflections on his long-standing photographic practice and consider how changes in time, place, and technology affect his image making.

Flick is a native of Holland whose work has been widely exhibited and published in the United States and abroad. His retrospective Robbert Flick: Trajectories was presented at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He is Professor Emeritus of Photography at the University of Southern California.

This lecture is free and open to the public.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with seating available on a first-come, first-seated basis.

The Alan Ostrow Memorial Lecture Series was established in 1983 and today aims to highlight artists and other creative thinkers working in photo-based practices.
