Viruses: Friends and Foes with Marilyn Roossinck, Professor of Virus Ecology in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology at Pennsylvania State University

Does the word "virus" leave you hiding under the covers, waiting for the sneezing and coughing to hit you, the fever and aches to make you wish you were dead? That is a common reaction, but it is such a very small part of the virus story! Did you know that a virus is absolutely required for a baby to develop in the womb? That you are full of viruses that are NOT making you sick, but instead keeping you well? In this talk Marilyn Roossinck will discuss the story of viruses from a different perspective, and give detailed examples of the many types of viruses that infect everything from the smallest bacteria to the largest mammals, and everything in between.
