SheJumps says
SheJumps is excited to offer an avalanche awareness evening for women, taught by Bend, OR backcountry skier and avalanche educator Lindsey Clark! This is a great opportunity to begin learning about avalanche terrain, or brush up on the basics before the next season of backcountry shredding. Snacks will be provided, and Base Camp Brewing and Happy Mountain Kombucha will be on hand pouring throughout the night!

Presentation topics will include identification of avalanche terrain, why and how avalanches happen, best practices for travel in avalanche terrain, local and regional resources to use throughout the season, and upcoming opportunities for more in-depth avalanche education in central Oregon this season.

About Lindsey:
Lindsey Clark is an AIARE instructor and teaches a variety of avalanche courses for Oregon Ski Guides in Bend and on Mt. Hood. She travels extensively to ski, initially starting in the Northeast at Tuckerman Ravine in New Hampshire, and now focusing on the western US and Canada. She is based in Bend, has been skiing the central Oregon Cascades since 2006, and is very knowledgeable about local ski terrain and avalanche phenomena.

Lindsey is the only female qualified AIARE instructor in Oregon, and is particularly excited to teach technical outdoor skills to women. She is also a longtime volunteer for the women’s outdoor non-profit organization SheJumps. When she is not skiing, Lindsey loves rock and alpine climbing. She also works as a graphic and product designer focusing on the outdoor industry.
