America’s Bad (movie) Boy, Nicholas Cage, stars in Neil LaBute's THE WICKER MAN (2006). This multi-Razzie-nominated remake of the 1973 cult-classic bombed harder than most Nicholas Cage movies (which is sort of impressive!).
Cage stars as Edward Malus, a sheriff who has been contacted by his ex-lover Willow (Kate Beahan), to find her missing daughter Rowan (Erika Shaye Gair). His search sends him to an isolated island off the coast of Washington. The island is filled with honey (both the bee product and the name of LeeLee Sobieski’s character). And yes, of course there are cosplaying neo-pagans that don’t take too kindly to strangers. Malus follows cryptic clues and dresses like a bear to get the answers he needs.
THE WICKER MAN packs choppy dialogue and literal punches. Nick Cage’s yell-delivery of his lines offers some of the most iconically bad scenes in cinematic history. Join us as we watch Nick steal masks from someone’s grandma and kids when we screen THE WICKER MAN in Hecklevision.
