Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon says
Where does the term “model minority” come from, what does it mean and how does it pit Asian and Pacific Islander communities against other communities of color? We will discuss API history and stereotypes, as well as how working for racial justice requires a model minority mutiny as we stand in solidarity with other communities of color, particularly through addressing the ways the "model minority" myth upholds anti-Blackness. Dinner will be provided! Childcare can be provided upon request. Facilitated by Jillian Toda and Kara Carmosino.

*** This workshop is meant for those who identify as Asian and Pacific Islander only. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact kara@apano.org. ***

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is similar to the workshop on 8/27/15, just offered a second time for those who did not get a spot in the 8/27 workshop. This workshop will also be offered at the University of Oregon in Eugene sometime later in the fall.

Please register at the above link for tickets (http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/50698/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=83002) to ensure you have a spot! For childcare please contact kara@apano.org.
