The event creator says
This week has been a wake up call for many of us, and many folks are now looking to get more involved in actions that promote tolerance, inclusion, solidarity, love, beauty, community, and resilience. The time to act is now.

We are hosting an activist open mic, for people and groups to pitch their ideas for initiatives, actions, campaigns, projects, and affinity groups of all kinds, and recieve direct support from the community.

The intention of this gathering is to match folks looking to offer their time, resources, and support with folks who are organizing and need such support.

This event is 100% free, and all people are welcome! But please come prepared to contribute your time, resources, and money to the projects that inspire you.

If you would like to pitch, please come prepared to make a presentation no longer than 5 minutes detailing what specific action or actions you are taking, or intend to take, and what specific actions folks can take to help or participate, or what resources they can contribute. The more specific your requests, the better. Pitches a can be anything relating to making the world a better place.

Guidelines:
-Anyone can pitch. You don't need to have a group or experience organizing.
-Requests can be big or small. You can ask for 5 people to start a study group on non-violent resistance with you, or you can ask for $10,000 to bring high speed internet to Standing Rock. Just remember they are requests, and the more modest and specific they are, the more likely they are to be met.
-You can have a large vision, and feel free to pitch that vision, but keep the focus on tangible next steps you can take THIS MONTH.
-Calls for civil disobedience are welcome, but calls for violent or destructive behavior are not and will not be tolerated.
-We have a projector, in theory, but this is our first time doing this, so don't rely on presentations, but they are welcome and should be fine.

Note: Format may change as things develop. This is an experimental format, so bear with us. Pitches will be accepted on a first come first served basis up to the cuttoff at 20, and then randomized)
