You really should go to Mercearia do Miguel. Try it at any time of the day: in the morning when it’s quiet (get an outdoor table to gaze at the river) and when you can have their homemade granola with yogurt and fruit; at lunchtime, when you can choose between soups, pies, quiches, paninis and fresh-pressed juices; during the afternoon, to snack on a toast made of “saloio” bread and gulp some coffee (French pressed, percolated or filtered, it’s always home brewed); and in the evenings, because it feels so good after a long day’s work to have a che ese board and a glass of wine. You can fill your belly and your Instagram account (everything looks pretty there) and you can stock up on food as well: “Mercearia” means grocery and they sell fruits, vegetables, cookies, spices in bulk and more.
