JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa

5 out of 5 stars
Why stay at the JW Marriott Turnberry Miami? Some people hit Miami for the nightlife. Some for the beaches. I went for the lazy river. Few places nail "luxury that doesn’t take itself too seriously" like JW Marriott Turnberry Miami. Quietly posted up in Aventura (translation: halfway between Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale), Turnberry is a sun-drenched playground that makes you wonder why you’d ever leave the property at all. Yes, it’s a "golf resort," but don’t panic. You don’t have to own a visor or say "birdie" unironically to belong here. You just have to appreciate smart design, a spa that fixes bad decisions and enough pools so everyone in your family can pick a favorite. (Depending on the size of your family, of course. I went with my husband and twin 11-year-old sons.) Turnberry somehow feels luxurious without being uptight, family-friendly without turning into a toddler rave and massive without feeling like you’re checking into a small nation. It’s the rare spot where you can sip a coconut mojito at 11am, fly down a waterslide by noon and erase your regrets with a deep-tissue massage by 3pm. Hypothetically. If that’s not enough to whet one’s appetite, it’s also been listed as one of our best family resorts in Miami, one of Miami’s best resorts for a tropical getaway, and one of the best hotels in Miami from Coconut Grove to South Beach.  Let’s dive in. What are the rooms like at the JW Marriott Turnberry Miami? If you’ve ever dreamed of staying somewhere that looks l
Eden Roc Miami Beach

Eden Roc Miami Beach

5 out of 5 stars
When I booked my stay at Eden Roc Miami Beach, I was expecting a nice hotel. What I got was a borderline existential crisis about why I don’t live there permanently. This place is a masterclass in how to do luxury without being obnoxious about it. It’s modern, stylish and somehow manages to feel both grand and intimate at the same time. I knew it had a long and steady reputation as a luxury hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how well it’s aged. Decades after its debut in the 1950s, this hotel remains iconic and continues to serve legendary sophistication, proving that classics never go out of style. Designed by Morris Lapidus, the architectural genius behind Miami’s mid-century modern aesthetic, Eden Roc maintains its timeless glamour, infusing it with a relaxed, contemporary vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can feel the echoes of old Hollywood—moguls and movie stars used to flock here—while still enjoying all the perks of contemporary luxury. Walking through the hotel, I got that old Hollywood vibe, that Cary Grant level of cool. It’s not your typical Miami Beach hotel because it makes you feel refreshingly removed from the high-octane chaos of South Beach that other hotels try to replicate. Eden Roc’s “chill luxury” vibe is what drew me in and made me feel like I belonged there, even if I was just a regular person who doesn’t own a yacht. What are the rooms like at the Eden Roc Miami Beach? Let’s talk about the rooms because, honestly, they’re a revelation.
