There’s something particularly satisfying about returning to a warm, cosy room after a full day of physical exertion in the snow. That was probably my favourite part of staying at Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort: it gave me the feeling of having an alpine adventure without sacrificing the comforts that make a winter getaway feel like a holiday. Set against the backdrop of the Snowy Mountains region, Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort is surrounded by mountains, bushland and the picturesque Lake Crackenback. It’s close enough to the ski fields to make a day on the slopes easy, yet far enough removed to escape the busier atmosphere of the mountain villages. I spent my stay exploring the resort, enjoying the food, taking in the views from my balcony and, of course, making the most of being so close to the ski fields. By the end of the trip, it was easy to see why Crackenback makes such a good base for exploring the region. Why stay at Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort? The main appeal of Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort is its location and the sense of space that comes with it. Rather than feeling like you're simply sleeping over between ski days, the resort gives you plenty of reasons to stay put. The setting is distinctly alpine, with the lake and surrounding mountains creating a peaceful backdrop. There’s a lovely feeling of being surrounded by nature, particularly in winter when the landscape takes on that quintessential Snowy Mountains atmosphere: all clarified light and crisp mountain air.
