The time has come to build the 2016 Sac Unified Poetry Slam Team that will represent Sacramento in the National Poetry Slam in Decatur CA in August! We will be sending a team of 4 with 1 alternate/coach. Registration for the slam is now open and filling quickly ($500 first come, first serve to certified venues like Luna's.) Poets who competed in the semi will be rolling their points over and the top 4 cumulative scores will make the team.

Sacrificial Poets will be guests from the 2016 SAYS (Sac Area Youth Speaks) poetry slam team that will be representing Sacramento youth slam at BNV (Brave New Voices) in Washington DC!

WORKSHOP- This month’s workshop will cover the topic of merchandise and self-publishing your work. Our special guest will be joining us at 7:30 to discuss his process of book creation. This is the first time 10 year Shamar Knox will be reading his story of domestic violence from a child’s perspective.

It's going to be a wonderful, deep and thoughtful night. This is a free show with purchase at the cafe, please join us. Luna's Cafe will be serving the freshest juices and licuados in town, nothing frozen or concentrated. The menu also includes sandwiches, salads, our famous quesadilla, fresh-ground coffee, mochas, and other espresso drinks. A nice selection of beer and wine is also offered. Enjoy it all in the comfortable atmosphere of Luna's, one of this area's original cafe galleries. Supporting artists of all kinds for over 30 years.
