Tricot are an all-girl mathrock trio from Kyoto, Japan. There is very little written about them in English and a less than illuminating Goggle translation on their website: "unique and thrilling music that cannot be predicted deployment" doesn't quite do them justice. However their magnificent music videos, their ace visual aesthetic and the complexity of their musical arrangements has finally garnered them a stateside audience.Their music is characterized by frenetic match rock rhythms that underpin sprightly to sprawling vocals that rage on a knife's edge. Fans of Battles, Speedy Ortiz, Zach Hill's pre-Death Grips band, Hella and proto-emo's Don Caballero should be rejoicing.
