In the Buddhist view, our lives and work are shaped by the forces of interdependence and karma, two of the Buddha’s most fundamental insights into the nature of reality. In essence, we can say that we are all products of our environment, and intimately connected to it. With mindfulness and appreciation, we can attend to this fragile interrelationship and sustain a healthy world. With ignorance and self-interest, we cannot sustain our own lives, let alone benefit the world.
