Feature: Elicia Sanchez
A comedian, writer and comic book reader, Elicia Sanchez has been performing all over the West Coast since 2010. Her self-deprecating, yet upbeat comedic style includes of a mix of personal stories, nerdy obsessions, social politics and accidental overshares that has been described by The Capitol Hill Times as "madcap tales of social incompetence." Seattle alt weekly The Stranger has referred to Elicia as both "very funny" and a "local favorite." Writer/activist Lindy West has called her, "a grumpy nugget of delight," and Grammy Award winning singer/song-writer Kimya Dawson (The Moldy Peaches, Juno) has cited Elicia as one of her favorite Northwest comedians. W. Kamau Bell, creator and host of the critically-acclaimed FXX series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell said, "Elicia Sanchez is the truth.”

Elicia has featured for comedians Wyatt Cenac (The Daily Show), Dwayne Kennedy (Seinfeld), W. Kamau Bell (Totally Biased) and is a regular opening act for beloved political comic Hari Kondabolu (Late Show with David Letterman). She has performed at Bumbershoot, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the AJND Comedy Festival, Northwest Comedy Fest, Emerald City Comicon, Autostraddle’s annual LGBTQ event A-Camp and has appeared on The Bob Rivers Show, NPR’s Latino USA and the Seattle-based sketch television show “The [206]." Her writing credits include articles for websites Autostraddle, Capeless Crusader, Have You Nerd? and Jezebel.

Elicia currently resides in Seattle, WA where she co-produces three monthly comedy shows (Wine Shots: Comedy’s Happiest Hour, The Enematic Cinematic LIVES!!, Not Too Late with Elicia Sanchez) and hosts a monthly podcast about terrible movies entitled The Enematic Cinematic. When not performing stand-up or singing with her band Lightning Bolton (Seattle’s premiere/only all-women Michael Bolton comedy cover band) she enjoys splitting her time between drinking shots of wine, having panic attacks on the bus and dusting her action figures.
