Artist Talk: Buster Simpson says
In this talk, artist Buster Simpson will discuss the development of his current commission for the Seattle waterfront and explore the concepts underlying his ongoing interest in the social, environmental, and poetic facets of infrastructure.

Simpson earned a BA and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Michigan. He is a recipient of numerous awards, including UM Distinguished Alumni Award in Architecture and Design, two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, and the Americans for the Arts Artist of the Year Award. The Frye Art Museum presented a retrospective exhibition in 2013, curated by Scott Lawimore, presenting Simpson's work in the realm of agit-actions, interventions, and public works projects, which have been ongoing in Seattle since 1973.

This lecture is presented in conjunction with Keller Easterling’s "Gift City" currently on view at the Henry through July 17th. It is made possible with the generous support of The New Foundation Seattle, in the framework of Martha Rosler’s yearlong residency.
