Time Out says

“Black Seattle 2035: Visions for Our Future” will provide a platform for collectively visioning, planning and networking about the future of the Black/African diaspora community in Seattle’s Central District and beyond. This forum will address the question “What do we want the Black Community in Seattle look like 2020-2035?” The event will begin with a panel of representatives of different aspects of our community sharing their vision to start the communication. Then there will be interactive exercises to surface ideas from all in attendance. About Seattle 2035? Seattle 2035 is the Seattle Department of Planning's multi-year process of updating Seattle's Comprehensive Plan and shaping what will happen in Seattle over the next 20 years. State law requires the city to conduct a major review and update every ten years, and the deadline for adopting changes is June 30, 2015. The city is currently compiling a set of amendments to the Comprehensive Plan for City Council to consider and vote on by that deadline. About Africatown The Africatown-Central District Preservation & Development Coalition is an asset based community development initiative to leverage the positive cultural assets of the Black/African descent people for the development of a healthy, vibrant, productive and prosperous community.
