Dir. James Frawley (1979, G, 95 min.)

Follow Kermit the Frog and friends on a musical cross-country adventure in the Campout Cinema screening of The Muppet Movie (1979).

After meeting a Hollywood agent in the swamps of Florida, Kermit the Frog decides to travel to LA to pursue a career in entertainment. Along the way, he befriends a large group of like-minded creatures who join him in his journey, including the hapless comedian Fozzie Bear, the glamorous Miss Piggy, and the eccentric Gonzo.

When Kermit turns down an offer to represent a fried frog leg restaurant, he finds himself in a showdown that can only be won with the power of friendship.

See this star-studded film-within-a-film that tells the (mostly) true origin story of the most sensational Muppets.

Bring the outdoor movie experience indoors with MoPOP’s Campout Cinema series, featuring film screenings on MoPOP’s mammoth Sky Church screen alongside cinematically-inspired fun. At Campout Cinema, MoPOP invites you to get comfy and relax under LED stars on blankets, pillows, cushions, and sleeping bags from home (no chairs please). With photo ops before the screening and during intermission—as well as trivia, giveaways, and other surprises—every Campout Cinema event offers a unique and super themed movie-going experience.
