In this opening concert to “Waves In Sound”, Hindustani vocalist Smt. Srivani Jade performs with Sri Anand Karve on harmonium and Sri Ravi Albright on tabla.

Srivani Jade was introduced to music at the age of four by her father Bhavani Prasad Jade and uncle Raghavendra Tilwalli. She studied khayal initially with Dr. Sharad Gadre in the gwalior style (2002-03), and since 2006, with Pandit Parameshwar Hegde in the kirana style. She performs regularly both in India and North America, including at music festivals such as the Sawai Gandharv Bhimsen Mahotsav (2014) and Devanandan Ubhayaker Yuva Sangeet Utsav (2009). Srivani performs in the khayal style and also sings an eclectic repertoire of light classical music, such as, Thumri-dadra, Tappa and Bhajans. Her sweet voice, and strong artistic command over the genre, creates a very pleasing atmosphere in her concerts. Srivani has taught music courses at the University of Washington where she has been invited as a Visiting Artist. She has five solo albums to her credit and has lent her voice and music on independent films such as Tapasya (2003), Siddhanto (2014) and stage productions such as Indian Ink (Sound Theater Company).

Co-presented with Dhrupad Music Institute of America (DMIA), this event is part of Dhrupad Days, DMIA's annual music festival.
