In his 2015 State of the Union address, President Obama said the trend of outsourcing jobs has been reversed in recent years, but Dan DiMicco (chairman and former CEO of American steel company Nucor) says there’s still a long way to go. DiMicco’s American Made asks for proactive approaches from Congress and business owners alike, and asserts that the key to fixing the economy is to reshore these jobs, restoring American manufacturing to its central role. He’ll share lessons he learned from Nucor, and explain that today’s high presence of service industry jobs is a temporary fix for the economy that brings long term consequences. By mapping the broken road that led to today’s predicament, he’ll also explain how to “return [America] to greatness.”
