8:00 pm: Diminished Men
Distorted through a shattered lens, Seattle’s celebrated art rock trio Diminished Men refocus hard-boiled cinema and classic instrumental music into something entirely unique. The band’s mixture of jazzy percussion, noirish atmospheres and simmering, cock-eyed guitar struts would be sure to elevate even a tacky Guy Ritchie knock-off film to cult status. Vision in Crime, their third LP on Sun City Girls' Abduction label, unfolds like a paranormal detective story full of delinquent exotic hyperventilating surf music. Diminished Men possess dangerous musical minds pulsing with nervous electricity, shattering Fender reverb, and gorgeous, sometimes romantic melancholy.

9:30 pm: Rik Wright’s Fundamental Forces
Rik Wright’s Fundamental Forces is an innovative collective of modern progressive jazz players who are known for their genre-bending performances - world beat one minute, rock the next, a touch of jam band and back to the core of jazz. Blending forward thinking arrangements with a core groove that listeners can tap their toe to, their music allures at every turn. That allure has propelled them all the way to #1 on the CMJ Jazz charts. In fact, altogether the group has placed three full-length recordings in the CMJ Jazz Top 40 chart in three consecutive years, two of those breaking the Top 10. On September 21st Fundamental Forces is celebrating the release of a live concert recorded at The Substation on Seattle’s own Scoobie Tracks label.

10:30 pm: Moraine
Moraine is a shape-shifting Seattle-based instrumental quintet led by guitarist Dennis Rea that has won over listeners around the globe with its unique amalgam of art rock, forward-thinking jazz and Asian-inspired music. The group's most recent CD "Groundswell" was produced by Stranger Genius award winning producer Steve Fisk and released on progressive rock stalwart Moonjune Records. Moraine regularly plays international prog rock festivals such as NEARfest, Seaprog, Baja Prog festival, Russia’s Ustuu Huree Festival, and have just returned to Seattle after performing at the FestivAlterNativo in Mexico City.
