About Your Trip
Pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, savor the skyline views of the icy Olympics and Mount Rainier, dodge the flying fish of Pike Place Market and track down hole-in-the-wall eateries of nearly every cuisine you can imagine: Seattle offers one of America’s most engaging cityscapes. The Emerald City, which has grown from a frontier town to the home base for some of the country’s biggest companies, regularly ranks high on roundups of the most livable cities in the United States, and it’s not hard to get captivated by the vibe.

Your trip coincides with the springtime migration of more than 20,000 gray whales northbound up the West Coast, and you’ll be almost guaranteed a sighting of these noble giants on a three-hour gray whale watching tour out of Everett, Washington. Aboard the Island Explorer, you’ll journey through Port Gardner Bay, Possession Sound and Saratoga Passage, edging the coast of Whidbey Island as you seek out the whales, which the cruise company – working alongside the Cascadia Research Collective – keeps close tabs on every season. There’s a good chance you’ll also spot plenty of other Salish Sea wildlife during your excursion, from bald eagles and osprey to harbor seals and porpoises.
