iRest Yoga Nidra with Meghan Smith

Integrative Restoration, known as iRest Yoga Nidra, is an ancient yogic practice expertly adapted by Richard Miller, Ph.D. to de-stress the western practioner. It is a transformative practice that promotes the unfolding of full human potential. iRest is a process of connecting to oneself as a balanced, whole and healthy individual by healing layers of tension, unresolved issues and negative thoughts, in order to arrive at a place of wholeness and well-being.

This class will begin with some gentle movements (asana) leading to a guided meditation that will take you from awareness of physical sensations to an expanded awareness of breath energy (prana), emotions, images and beliefs. From there, you will be lead to innate bliss and ultimately, your true Self. iRest can be practiced by anyone and can be done lying down, sitting on the floor or in a chair.

Meghan Smith is an E-RYT 200 Registered Yoga Teacher and has been practicing yoga and meditation since she was a teenager. She has studied with Richard Miller, Ph.D., the creator of iRest Yoga Nidra, and has also completed trainings in trauma focused yoga and Buddhist psychology. Meghan is a clinical intern working with combat veterans at The Seattle Vet Center, where she uses iRest with her patients in weekly group sessions. Her patients report dramatic reductions in anxiety, depression, insomnia and chronic stress, all symptoms of PTSD. She hopes to share the benefits of iRest with as many people as possible as a means of leading others towards health and healing.
