As a woman (if you are one), how do you feel about your body? Our media, our western culture, instills an insecurity, a judgmental plague-- one that I have been actively trying to eliminate from my life. If that resonates at all, please join us-- a bunch of us are going to a screening of this film, Embrace, on Thursday, November 10. Follow the first link to buy tickets. Trailer in the discussion below. And hopefully we can go to a nearby cafe or something afterwards to talk about our impressions of the film. (I'll look into that...)

Obviously this movie is made for women who are comfortable in the sex/gender they were assigned at birth but who struggle with the demands thrust upon them as such. But I suspect it could also be an interesting film to men and other people who don't identify as female but want to know more about women's experiences in this culture.

(For future outings, if anyone has movies to suggest about self image, gender identity, etc. in other ways, I'd love to hear about them & schedule outings for those, too. Currently considering future screenings of The Mask You Live In and Miss Representation, and would love suggestions for trans or non-binary focused films. I want to explore with my sisters what it means to be a woman in today's world, AND I also want us to be aware of and open to exploring the multitude of gender-based issues that currently affect us and those we love.)
