The event creator says
What does it feel like to have a free channel to your imagination? How do we release the internal obstructions to creative flow? In these workshops we’ll weave through various modes of creative expression and Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement®, a practice for attending to bodily sensation and responding in an internal environment of non-judgment.

In Part 1 of “Flowing in the River”, we will focus on the opening phase of the creative process. Beginning artists of all disciplines will find comfortable passage to the source of artistic process. Experienced artists will widen, deepen and mend their relationship to their creative impulse. Future workshops will encompass shaping, revising and collaboration.

Arni Adler delves into many creative modes, including singing/performing/music composition (in Uncle Bonsai, the Blue Janes, fasten with pins, and as a writer-in-residence in elementary schools); writing (as a teacher of adults and children); and visual art (painting, collage — showing in coffee houses, and teaching children). A graduate of Bennington College, whose slogan “Institutionalized Creativity” she takes to heart, Arni finds continued inspiration and guidance through yoga, meditation and Feldenkrais.

Sheri Cohen began her career as a movement artist in the early 1990’s. She has created award-winning dance works for stage and less conventional performance sites as a soloist, the director of her own company, and in collaborations, including the ROOM project. Sheri teaches dance and creative movement to both dancers and those who don’t think of themselves as dancers, facilitating in her students creative flow and embodied presence. Sheri is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2000, and also teaches yoga.
