FORGE Dance Theatre celebrates their first season with a Seattle art extravaganza.
FORGE Dance Theatre is a new dance company based in Seattle, WA. Director Trish Kitiera Morehead is joined by Adrienne Parsons, Izzie Wisteria Hough, Kim Phelps, and Suzanna Davis. FORGE fuses Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Belly Dance seamlessly into a completely unique dance stylization. At Gazing West the group will present work from their first season together, including the controversial and challenging "Confrontation," the magical and lonely "Discordia," and the intimate and soul-revealing "Stay." Each FORGE artist will also present a new solo work.
FORGE enlists the help of an amazing array of special guests to create an immersive art experience for the audience. A visual art show precedes the main event with work by Laura Tempest Zakroff, Michelle Taul, Shannon Connor Castle, and Vikram Madan.
On stage, FORGE is joined by violin rockstar Geoffrey Castle, electronic masterminds Dionvox, acclaimed poet Maged Zaher, and filmmaker Ben Rapson in a collision of art mediums, a collaboration of genius, and an offering of friendship.
The concept “Gazing West” derives from personal and spiritual connections to the Pacific Northwest and Elliot Bay. The show explores modern and ancient issues that involve Seattle and the surrounding areas, and embraces a Siren as its muse. The underlying themes include personal quest & homecoming, water and marine life and legend, conflict, sacrifice, love, joy, betrayal, and loss. The show is a glimpse into the heart of the people and the city standing on the western edge of the world.
