Get Cultured! Potluck says
Join us for a potluck, talk, and culture exchange at Sandel Park in Seattle, WA! Bring some of your own fermented dishes or cultures (kombucha SCOBYs, sourdough starter, kefir grains, yogurt, etc.) to share and swap with other fermenters. This potluck is open to everyone from interested beginners to expert fermenters. We also ecourage complementary non-fermented dishes.

Tara Whitsitt will talk about her traveling education project, Fermentation on Wheels. She will also brief the audience on fermentation, especially the differences between wild fermentation and fermentation through inoculation. Her talk will be followed by a starter culture swap on the bus.

All our events are free and open to the public, however, if you would like to take home a culture, we ask you please bring something to swap or $10 per culture.

Fermentation on Wheels is a charitable grassroots organization from Eugene, OR that provides free food education and inspires people through workshops, literature, and visual arts projects that raise food awareness and teach fermentation. The community organizes potlucks and teaches fermentation in a school bus that has been converted into a creative kitchen and workshop space. By traveling the country, visiting farmers and connecting them with consumers, Fermentation on Wheels hopes to make a powerful statement and emphasize the importance of strong, sustainable food practices and values.
